Cellphones and Laptops

Some professors become extremely upset when they hear a cellphone ringing in their class. Have you seen this video (in Thai)? Obviously, there is no excuse for the behaviour of the professor in this video, but I think the student is also to blame because using a cellphone in class is simply rude!.

The Rule: Always turn off your cellphones in my class! (And reduce the possibility of being afflicted by the new epidemic, text neck. Also see this. )

The Rule: Please use the laptops only for activities relevant to the lecture. It is also important to make sure that you do not use the keyboard for taking notes. This video explains why.

I believe that in my course it is better to use the old-fashioned approach to learning, namely by simply listening to the instructor, seeing what he writes on the screen and thinking critically while taking notes with a pen or pencil.
